... I have the passion to understand the dynamic of a complicated system ...
With my strong background in Mathematics and data analytics, I believe that we can understand every system and utilize the knowledge to benefit us in some way.
Throughout my life, this passion has paved the way to countless opportunities and unique experiences.

My Projects

Predictive modeling
Used machine learning technique (extreme machine leaning) to predict phytoplankton (algae) population in Lake George, FL. Also used optimization technique to enhance the performance of machine learning

Exploratory data analysis
Used Python library such as pandas, matplotlib and seaborn to explore and pre-process diabetes data set. Applied extra tree classifier to help with feature selection in modelling process.

Visualizing Geospatial data
Applied data visualization library in Python (Folium) to visualize crime rate in San Francisco. This is a part of Data visualization course in Coursera.

What I’ve Learned
June 2019-September 2019 (expected)
IBM Data science professional certificate
This program covered a wide array of data science topics including open source tools and libraries, methodologies, Python, databases, SQL, data visualization, data analysis, and machine learning. In this program I also familiarize myself with IBM products like Watson and Cloud Services.
August 2015-August 2019
PhD Mathematics, University of Florida
My interest lies in Biomathematics which involve solving real-world problems related to Biology/Ecology. My thesis is to understand the competition dynamic of phytoplankton in freshwater lake by using mathematical modeling which result in publishing a paper in a well-known journal.
August 2013 - May 2015
MS in Mathematics, University of Florida
This program helped me to strengthen my mathematics background such as Probability theory, Numerical Analysis and Differential equation. I also taught in different types of undergraduate classes which helped me gain communication skill, listening skill and time management skill.
My Skills
Critical thinking/ Problem solving
Data analysis
Communication/ Collaboration
Python, R , SQL and Matlab
My Experience
August 2013 - August 2019
Doctoral Researcher
Conducted researches in mathematical modeling for population of phytoplankton focusing on two species competing for the limiting resource in lake's ecosystem.
Developed predictive model of phytoplankton population by using neural networks
Optimized model parameter to enhance the ability of neural networks
August 2014- August 2019
Teaching Assistant , University of Florida
Led discussion sections for undergrad students in various classes such as College Algebra, Survey of Calculus, Precalculus and trigonometry, Calculus 1,2 and 3.
Graded quizzes, homework assignments and exams.
Used data from online homework provider to design class activities.
August 2017- December 2017
Researcher, The Center For Stress Resilient Agriculture, University of Florida
Collaborated with graduate students from agricultural and biological engineering department and a private biotech company, to investigate the best mechanisms to deactivate marine diatom.
Studied the effect on growth rate of diatom under unfavorable environment.
Designed a sample plan to monitor the effectiveness of the deactivation
August 2018 - May 2019
Organizer for Biomath Seminar at Department of Mathematic
Scheduled time and location for the seminar. Coordinated with faculty to invite speakers across department for the seminar. Sent out email announcement and a thank you email to the speaker after the talk. Maintain and update website
